Metroid: 2D or Not 2D¿
« on: January 04, 2008, 09:46:56 AM »
Well, seeing as I'm an old-school Metroid fan, I prefer the old SNES version of Metroids. I'm wondering if other
players feel the same way. I would like it if the Metroid Prime series got remade into 2D for both the Gameboy
Advance and the DS.
The Metroid: Zero Mission and Metroid Fusion games IMO were way better than the Prime Series. We need a
Super Metroid remake, and it would do better if it's remade in 2D. Look at the way Street Fighter IV is going,
It's essentially 2D in a 3D world.
And SA-X would own Dark Samus any time of the year!!!!!

What are your opinions¿

i dunno about that, if those games were remade for the DS or GBA they would probably lose a whole bunch of their features and knowing that a lot of people probably would just stick to the console versions of the games because of that. Nintendo probably knows this so they don't want to spend the money to remake the games when they might not even generate enough revenue to break even.

I prefer 2D in terms of Metroid.

I think Nintendo can make money from this. If you remake it for the DS or Advance you can increase the resolution and smooth it out. plus they have much higher processing capacity, so you can add sprites to help smooth it out.

well thats what i would like to see. I much clearer super detailed pixel remake of Super Metroid :D

Nintendo WILL break even if they get remade for the GBA and DS, what was really so special aside
from strafing, all the "Metroid" elements are 2D in nature. And old time gamers like me, would definately
purchase it.
It's the same way, that Capcom is going with the Street Fighter series. It's getting the attention of all those old
gamers who played it, years ago, so if you played it 12 years ago, you can still pick it up at the drop of a hat.
If it was a game like Ninja Gaiden, I would gladly rest my peace, Metroid is more platformer puzzler with some
action thrown in.
Oh, but the action is sweet, in both the old Metroid and the new Ninja Gaiden. I'm waiting patiently for the
new Next-Gen version.
Hmmmn¿ Ninja Vs. Bounty Hunter, ........ I wonder who would win.

Thats a good one. It'd be cool to see.

I would have to agree with you that Metroid is a puzzler. Its got alot of obstacles and its very maze like.
Having it in 3D does make it seem more realistic, but sometimes it just becomes a complete pain when a missle pack or energy tank is right there but you can find it. In 2D it was in one of 8 directions LOL.

If I could have some input into the Metroid development, that would be a very wonderful day
for the gaming industry, Metroid would be the new Zelda or the adults Mega-Man. Finishing it in 3 hours would
be the least time acceptable, unlike the 20 - 50 minutes it takes me to complete the other ones.
Ah! Bliss at my imagination of new Metroids.
I want to see/make more after Fusion.

Personally I didnt like Fusion too much, but I should play it hardcore so I can make up my mind.

I like Zero Mission though, that was a pretty good remake of Metoid I.

I love my Zero Mission, I love my Super Metroid, and I like my Fusion. The only thing I dislike is that it's toooooooo linear.
Except for that hidden message that you can see from shine sparking, but it is a good game, and fun the
way I play it of course.

If they did continue 3D, I would at the least, like to see a better strafe setup. Locking on to strafe was dumb.
